Abstract
This study utilized the descriptive type of research. Sixty (60) respondents were selected through purposive sampling technique. They were admitted and confined in the Service Ward of DLSUMC for more than three (3) days. The researcher adapted and modified a checklist type of questionnaire on the quality of nursing care and carative behaviors of student nurses. Frequency, percentage, mean, Kruskal-Wallis test and Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (Mann-Whitney Test) were used in the statistical analysis of the data. The researcher drew up the following conclusions: 1) Most of the respondents of this study consisted of patients in the 26-45 years old age group, male, married, reached high school level and had been admitted for 3-6 days; 2) Almost all of the clients received good quality nursing care. Fifty (50) or 83.3% of the total respondents perceived it to be very good quality; 3) It shows that 45.6 or 75% of the total respondents considered the carative behavior of the student nurses in the service ward of DLSUMC in Cavite to be very good; 4) There is no significant difference in the perception of clients on the quality of nursing care of student nurses when grouped according to age, gender, civil status and educational attainment. However, there was a significant difference in the duration of hospitalization. Therefore, the perception of clients regarding quality of nursing care differs in duration of hospitalization but it does not have significant difference in terms of their demographic data; 5) There is no significant difference in the perception of clients on the carative behaviors of student nurses when grouped according to the variables. The perception, values, and the manner on how an individual is raised by the family or guardian may be key factors on the why clients’ perception on the carative behaviors did not vary in terms of their demographic data.
