Abstract
This study utilized a descriptive comparative type of research design. This study was conducted to compare orphans and non orphans with respect to problems in dealing with authorities. Convenience sampling was used to obtain a population of 50 orphans and 50 non orphans aged 13 to 18 years old. The respondents were given an adapted modified questionnaire. The data were analyzed with the use of frequency, percentage, mean, t test, ANOVA and Levene’s Test for Equality of Variances. Overall, orphans have low level of problems in dealing with authorities: disobedience (1.60), disrespect (1.50), and aggression (1.32) and the most commonly encountered problem is disobedience (1.60). Overall, the non orphans have low level of problems in dealing with authorities: disobedience (1.60), disrespect (1.58), and aggression (1.42). The most commonly encountered problem is disobedience (1.60).The most common problem in dealing with authorities encountered by orphans is disobedience. The most common problem in dealing with authorities encountered by non-orphans is disobedience.
