Abstract
The study focused on the experiences of nurses caring for older persons at the end of life. The grand tour question was, “As a nurse, what are your experiences in caring for older adults in their end of life?” (“Bilang isang nars, ano-ano ang iyong mga karanasan sa pag-aalaga sa mga matatanda sa mga huling sandali ng kanilang buhay?”). The research study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Semi structured in-depth interviews were conducted with ten participants, audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke (2006). The interviews explored the experiences of nurses caring for older adults in their end-of-life. End-of-life care nurses are emotionally and transformative professionals who provide comfort and dignity to their patients. The challenges they face, such as moral dilemmas and emotional turmoil, lead to increased empathy, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Nursing is a continuous process of learning and living, learning with each patient and experience, and living with acceptance, dignity, and purpose.
