Abstract

Objectives of the Study: The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of mothers on the emergence of telenursing in Barangay Alapan 1B, City of Imus, Cavite. Specifically, the study sought to uncover the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, civil status, family income, educational attainment, and determine their perceptions on the emergence of telenursing.

Methodology: The study utilized a quantitative descriptive research design with 336 mothers in Barangay Alapan 1B. A 20 item-self-made questionnaire was utilized, divided into two parts: the demographic profile and a 4-point Likert scale to obtain the Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitation Conditions. Statistical analysis included frequency distribution and percentage, mean and standard deviation, and Kruskal-Wallis H Test.

Findings: The findings of this study were the following: 1. Majority of the respondents were 45 to 54 years old, obtained college level, were married, and had a family income of ₱9,101 to ₱18,200. 2. The respondents had a positive perception on Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Condition. 3. There is a significant difference in the perception of the respondents on the emergence of telenursing according to age, family income, and educational attainment, but not by civil status.

Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, the conclusion can be drawn: 1. Majority of the respondents are in (a) middle adulthood, (b) have attained higher education, (c) are married, and (d) are low income earners. 2. Mothers positively valued the convenience of telenursing, however, it may not fully replace the traditional method of nursing care. 3. Mothers’ perceptions of telenursing differ by age, family income, and education, but are similar when considering civil status. This implied that civil status has no effect on telenursing perception.
