Abstract

The researchers used descriptive, non-experimental research methodology. The respondents were selected by the use of the Slovin's formula to obtain the population used for the study. Stratified random and simple random sampling was used in order to choose the respondents in each barangay. The researchers relied on an adapted modified tool that used based on the Health Belief Model by psychologists, Hochbaum, Rosenstock, and Kegels of 2006. Data was analysed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, t-test, and f-test. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were extracted: (1) majority of the respondents were aged 26-64 years old, female, high school graduates, spouse of client with pulmonary tuberculosis and in a nuclear type of family; (2) family members of clients with pulmonary tuberculosis employed good preventive health behaviors; (3) there was no significant differences in the preventive health behavior of family members of clients with pulmonary tuberculosis when respondents were grouped according to age, gender, educational attainment, relation to the client having pulmonary tuberculosis, and type of family.
