Abstract

The researchers utilized a descriptive research design and a qualitative approach. Stratified random sampling was used. applying the Modified Cochran's formula for known population, the sample size derived 163 first year students, 104 second year students, 98 third year students, and 20 fourth year students. The validated questionnaire with a 5-point Likert Scale was employed to measure the extent of influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the career ambition of the nursing students in DLSMHSI. Data was analyzed through mean, standard deviation, percentage, frequency and test of normality. The study concluded that, 1) The demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age shows that most of the students are 20 years of that most of the students are 20 years old, which is the median of the age group set by the researchers. The first year students make up most of the demographic profile in terms of year level; 2) The COVID-19 pandemic was very influential on the ambition of the students to become future frontliners in line with their career identity, career insight, and career resilience, despite the challenges that the pandemic brought to the fronliners initially; 3) There is no significant difference in the respondents' ambition to become future frontliners when they were grouped according to age and year level. This means that the respondents, regardless of age and year level, have positively secured aspiration to become nurses or frontliners in the future.
