Abstract

The study sought to answer the following questions: 1. What are the difference in the perceived role of public heath nurse before and during the development of primary health care? 2. What are the problems perceived by the public health nurse regarding their role in primary health care? 3. How do they cope/manage with their primary health care role?  Interview will be formulated as the main tool of gathering data based on the problem presented.  This research focuses on the perceptions of 3 public health nurses in Imus Rural Health Unit regarding their role of primary health care. The instrument used was interview that gave emphasize to the researchers to work hard to evaluate the 3 public health nurses. 1. The perceived role of public health nurse before and during the development of primary health care stated that before the primary health care is implemented most of the activities were shouldered by them from recording, reporting patient admission, medication, immunization, TB programs and other staff. And with the launching of primary health care their work become limited for they just concentrate on the supervision of the midwives assigned in different barangay health centers who are the main implementors of all health program in the barangay. The more knowledge on how to expedites achievement of the desired health actions by removing the barriers to health care of make services accessible and acceptable to all. She builds up the skills of the community to deal effectively with health and heath related problems. And they must consider first the environment and sanitation of the place. They must be aware of what they had and always bear in mind that they were dealing with public people those who must see to it that main goal of it is to help the poor ones. 2. The problem perceived by the chosen respondent stated that it is on the supervision of midwives. presence of many scavenger in the area have no choice were to live. The garbage there look like hills in the street that creates foul smell also for the reason for their poor health and also the different implementors of regulation in sanitation because of lack of unity in their community and also problem of nutrition. 3. The perceived problem in primary health care, they manage to cope in this while by strengthening the referral system and by making decision regarding appropriate health action, provide nursing care to the sick and effectively utilizing community resources for health care and effectively utilizing community resources for health care and lastly by simply dealing with people in rural and giving health education. Based on the findings gathered, the researchers could conclude that: 1. The study showed that the public health nurses perceived significant differences in their role before and during the primary health care, thus accepting the first hypothesis. 2. The study showed that the public health nurses perceived less problem in their role in primary health care, thus accepting the second hypothesis. 3. The study showed that the public health nurse cope/manage their problem in primary health care role differ with one another, thus accepting the 3rd hypothesis.
