Abstract

This study is an effort exerted to closely examine the level of significance of selected factors that motivate the faculty members in pursuing their career as nurse educators in De La Salle University - Emilio Aguinaldo College. The selected variables in their adjustment to job demands include the following factors: The self-motivating factors and the environmental factors. Underling the self-motivating factors are the profession itself and professional advancement. The environmental factors are sub-divided into three (3) - The School, which involves its facilities and the school atmosphere. The Administration which invokes support on Career Advancement, Compensation, and Recognition and Promotion. And the Spheres, which involves the faculty and students. The following findings were derived from the statistical treatment and were interpreted and based on theoretical formulations of motivations to job satisfaction. The factors that motivate the nurse educators are the Profession Itself of the self-motivating factors fall under educators. Professional Advancement falls under the scale of one (1) which has no significance to the nurse educator. The School Atmosphere and Facilities of the Environmental Factors fall under the scale of one (1) which also has no significance either to the nurse educators. Support on Career Advancement falls under the scale of two (2) which shows its significance to the nurse educaors. Recognition and Promotion together with Compensation falls under the scale of one (1) which again has no significance to the scale of one (1) which again has no significance to the nurse educators. The Spheres - Faculty and Students of the Environmental Factors fall under the scale of two (2) which shows its significance to the nurse educators. Based on the findings, the researchers therefore conclude that job satisfaction to the nurse educators does not come from their own personal gain or want. To them it does not matter what they could get but what they could give. There are no limitations to them as long as they are motivated by the talents to their students, that they may have a sense of fulfillment in the course they have chosen. Interpersonal relationships are the most important to them as friendship and trust is developed among both their students and co-faculty.
