Abstract
This is a descriptive comparative study about childrearing practices of both working parents and single working parents with toddler children in Talaba, Bacoor, Cavite. This aimed to compare the child-rearing practices of the two groups of respondents and the behaviors demonstrated by toddler children. The reason in conducting this study was to provide knowledge and understanding about the importance of parenthood. The researchers wanted the respondents to become aware on how their practices greatly affect the development of their child's personality. Based on the data presented through statistical tests, the following are the major findings on the child-rearing practices of both working and single working parents and the behaviors demonstrated by toddler children. It was revealed that majority of both working parents were preparing child's food while in single working parents were setting clear and desirable explanation about right and wrong doings. The lowest response gathered from two groups of respondents were laughing at the child's mistakes and ignoring the child's misbehavior. Regarding the usual behaviors demonstrated by the toddler children, the two groups of respondents prceived that majority of children can comprehend easily on what the parents are saying and that they become uneasy, apprehensive or worried when seperated from parents. The behaviors least demonstrated by toddler children was self centeredness. Majority of them perceived that other behaviors are demonstrated as fair since these are the normal behaviors of the toddler children. From the above findings of this study, it can be concluded therefore that the null hypothesis of #1 was accepted since there was no significant difference on the childrearing practices of both working parents with toddler children as compared to single working parents. The null hypothesis #2 was accepted since there was no significant difference of both working parents as compared to single working parents. The null hypothesis #3 was rejected since there was a significant correlation on the childrearing practices and the behaviors demonstrated by toddler children of both working parents as compared to single working parents.
