Abstract
The study utilized a qualitative research design which determined the minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration and the minimum biofilm eradication concentration of E. eugeniae extract against S. maltophilia. The MBIC and the MBEC were identified through a biofilm inhibition assay and a biofilm eradication assay, respectively. The results of the study showed that minimum biofilm inhibition and minimum ebiofilm eradication of E. eugeniae against S. maltophilia were both elicited at 50 mg/ml. The same concentration proved to be optimal in inhibiting the formation of biofilm and eradicating the biofilm itself. The study concluded that the Eudrilus eugeniae (African Night Crawler) extract exhibits antibiofilm activity against Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.
