Abstract
This research study utilized a qualitative research design which assessed the minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration of Capsicum frutescens' crude extract against MRSA and ESBL- producers. The minimum inhibitory concentration was determined using two-fold macrodilution technique while the minimum bactericidal concentration was determined by using MHA. The results of the study showed that the Capsicum frutescens' crude extract exhibited minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration against clinically signficant microorganisms which are gram-positive MRSA and fram-negative ESBL. However, the highest inhibitory activity was seen in Stenotrophomonas maltophilia with a concentration of 3.125%. The study concluded that Capsicum frutescens' crude extract exhibits an antimicrobial activity against clinically significant gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. The greatest bioactivity of the Capsicum frutescens' crude extract was seen in ESBL-producing microorganisms, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.
