Abstract

The study aims to know the perception of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute Senior High School Students on their musculoskeletal health and what musculoskeletal symptoms they experience during the implementation of Home Based Alternative Learning. The gathered data were interpreted using Likert Scale. Through the Likert Scale, opinions, attitudes and behaviours that allow to easily operationalize personality traits or perceptions were easily assessed. The results show that DLSMHSI SHSSHS Students are moderately aware of their musculoskeletal health during online classes. Neck pain, neck stiffness, reduced movement of the shoulder and lower back ache turns out to be the most common musculoskeletal symptoms that the students experience during their synchronous classes this school year. The researchers recommend widening the demographic of the study to tertiary education students and to other academic institutions as well. Future researchers could also include more detailed questions on the students’ experiences and observations of their own musculoskeletal health. This way, the study would not only focus on their perception, but to their experiences and observations as well.
