Abstract

The current study will be done to determine the individual and synergistic bactericidal effects of Centella asiatica and Ixora coccinea ethanolic leaf extracts. The researchers will compare the antibacterial properties of Centella asiatica with Ixora coccinea and their potential to kill pathogens using different levels of concentration. The researchers will only compare the active components and the individual and synergistic bactericidal effects of the said ethanolic leaf extracts on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli alone. It is not the intention of this study to create a medicine nor identify and study other properties of Centella asiatica and Ixora coccinea that are not related to their antibacterial properties. This study will also not cover the effects of the variables involved on other microorganisms that are not Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The researchers are limited to using ethanolic leaf extracts from Centella asiatica and Ixora Coccinea to compare their antibacterial properties, only using the Kirby-Bauer Disk Diffusion Method.
