Abstract

This study shall focus only on the extraction of Sechium edule (Chayote) and Cucurbita maxima (Pumpkin Squash) in order to test the antimicrobial synergistic activity. The researchers shall gather the vegetables and only use the peels for this study. There are various phytochemicals present in a plant, and in this case the vegetable peel. The preliminary phytochemical screening would only limit the presence of phytochemicals with antimicrobial characteristics as to prevent unnecessary information and experimentation. Screening for some antimicrobial phytochemicals such as Flavonoids and Terpenoids would not be done since its extraction requires the use of chloroform which is a potentially dangerous chemical and is not recommended for research in the current level of study.
