Abstract

The study will focus on the comparison of the efficacy of the antibacterial properties between Lantana Camara (Kantutay) and Gmelina Elliptica s.m. (Talungud) plant. The study will specifically use the leaf extracts of both Lantana Camara (Kantutay) and Gmelina Elliptica s.m (Talungud) against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and will be using the Kirby-Bauer Method or Disk Diffusion Assay. The instruments to be used to conduct the said method will be Mueller-Hinton agar petri dishes, 24 hr old cultures of Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus, sterile swabs, antibiotics, ethanol, forceps, and Kirby-Bauer plates. This study will only be limited to identifying the inhibition zone and significant concentration levels. This study will take place at the De La Salle Medical and Health Science Institute (DLSMHSI) Angelo King Medical Research Center Dasmariñas City, Cavite. The approximate duration of the study will be 2 months, including the allotted time for laboratory work. The results will be gathered and compared using statistical methods.
