Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To assess the effectiveness of surgical treatments for chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) excluding cholesteatoma (that is, active mucosal chronic otitis media (COM)), comparisons will be made between surgical and no treatment, between surgical and medical treatment and between different types of surgical treatment. CSOM which is complicated by extra-cranial or intra-cranial infections are excluded.
