Abstract

The study used the descriptive survey method. The respondents involved 20 radiologic technologists on duty assigned in affiliated hospitals of College of Medical Radiation Technology (CMRT), particularly in the radiology department located in Cavite and Manila and were selected using simple random sampling technique. A questionnaire served as the instrument. Data was analyzed through average weighted mean, t-test, frequency and percentage distribution. The study concluded the following: 1) the radiation protection practices of CMRT-affiliated hospitals in terms of time, distance and shielding, known as the cardinal principles, were moderately practice by the respondents; 2) The radiation protection practices of CMRT-affiliated hospitals in special radiographic examinations with contrast media in terms of time, distance and shielding were moderately practice by the respondents; 3) The radiation protection practices of the respondents in special procedures without contrast media in terms of time, distance, shielding were moderately practiced; 4) There was a significant difference between the radiation protection practices of CMRT-affiliated hospitals with regard to special radiographic examinations with and without contrast media in terms of time and shielding. There was no significant difference between the two examinations in terms of distance.
