Abstract

The study used the descriptive method. The respondents were 220 elderlies chosen using purposive sampling technique in selected communities in Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan. The quality of life questionnaire was adapted as the research instrument. Frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, coefficient variation, independent t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were the statistical treatments applied. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) Majority of the respondents were female, married, aged 60-64 years old, Catholic and had a family support; 2) No significant differences were found in the overall quality of life of elderly when they were grouped according to gender, religion and family support; 3) There was a significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly when they were grouped according to age and civil status; 4) There was no significant difference in the quality of life of the respondents in terms of physical, emotional, mental, psychological, and spiritual aspects when they were grouped according to gender; 5) There was a significant difference in the quality of life of elderly in terms of social aspect when they were grouped according to gender; 6) There were no significant differences in the quality of life of the respondents in terms of emotional and spiritual aspects when they were grouped according to age; 7) There was a significant difference in the quality of life respondents in terms of physical, psychological, and social aspects when they were grouped according to age; 8) There was a significant difference in the quality of life of the respondents in terms of physical, emotional, psychological aspects when they were grouped according to civil status; 9) There were no significant differences in the six (6) aspects of quality of life of the respondents when they were grouped according to religion; 10) There was a significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly in terms of physical and emotional aspects when they were grouped according to family support; 11) The total quality of life of the elderly was high in terms of physical, emotional, mental, psychological and social aspects.
