Abstract

The study used the descriptive method. The respondents were 145 couples residing at Barangay Pandaras, San Fernando, Pampanga using purposive sampling . The self-made instruments used were the three-point Likert scale patterned from different studies. Chi-square, frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, and Mann-Whitney test were the statistical tools used in the study. Based from the findings, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) Majority of the female respondents are from age 20-30 and most of the male respondents are teenagers or below 20 years old; (2) All of the respondents were Roman Catholics; (3) With regard to educational attainment, majority of the respondents reached the primary level; (4) Most of the respondents’ family monthly income falls under P5,000-P10,000; (5) Majority of the female respondents are housewives. Almost all male respondents are working outside their homes and most of them are permanently working as farmers; (6) The level of awareness of male and female respondents regarding family planning at Barangay Pandaras, San Fernando, Pampanga still needs to be updated; (7) The age of the female respondents and employment status of male and female respondents were not significant determinants in the level of awareness regarding family planning; (8) Age of males and educational attainment and monthly family income of both genders were significant determinants in the level of awareness of the respondents regarding family planning.
