Abstract

The demographic variables for the levels of awareness and preparedness are age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment. The correlational research design was utilized in the study. The researchers used a self-made questionnaire that was distributed among the government officials in the cities of Bacoor and Cavite. One hundred seventy-seven (177) respondents participated in the study. The statistical measurements used in the study are frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis H test and Spearman's rho correlation. Based on the findings, the following conlusions are drawn: 1) majority of the respondents are aged 45 to 64, male, married, and college graduates; 2) the respondents were moderately aware on the effects of global warming; 3) the respondents were somewhat prepared on the effects of global warming; 4) the level of awareness of the respondents did not vary significantly when grouped according to age, gender and civil status. However, respondents with post graduate education were better prepared compared with other groups; 5) the level of preparedness of the respondents did not vary significantly when grouped according to age, gender and civil status. However, respondents with post graduate education were better prepared than other groups; 6) respondents who were more aware were better prepared on the effects of global warming.
