Abstract

This study used a descriptive, non-experimental research design specifically survey research. The primary respondents of the study were composed of 100 breastfeeding mothers from selected barangays in Bacoor I Cavite regardless of their present health state. This study used the purposive or judgmental sampling. The respondents of this study were chosen according to researchers’ knowledge about the population. The researchers used an adapted and modified type as the main tool prepared by Andico, A. et. al (2008) from their study, “Nutritional Practices of Pregnant Women in Dasmarinas, Cavite” for gathering data. The questionnaire composed of 50 questions were subjected for validation and pretest. Statistical treatment used was mean, percentage, t-test, f-test and standard deviation to compute, evaluate and analyze the gathered data. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1) Most of the respondents were within the range of 18-35 years of age, Catholic, have high school level of education, have one (1) child, and have monthly family income of P10,000 and below; 2) Breastfeeding mothers in the selected barangays in Bacoor I, Cavite have a fair level of nutritional practices in terms of daily food intake; 3) Breastfeeding mothers’ nutritional practices in terms of daily food intake showed that there is significant difference when grouped according to parity and educational attainment, but showed no significant difference when the respondents were grouped according to age, religion and monthly family income.
