Comparative study on the perception of organ donation between residents in selected urban and rural communities in Cavite

Abstract

This study utilized the descriptive-correlational research design. It used simple random sampling to determine the number of respondents and a modified adaptive questionnaire to gather data. There were 368 respondents who were residents in selected urban and rural communities in Cavite. The researchers utilized a questionnaire that was adapted and modified from the undergraduate thesis of Celes et al, (2007). Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, mean and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents from selected urban and rural communities in Cavite are 19 to 31 years old, female, Catholic, with monthly income of P10,000 and below, and high school graduates; 2) The respondents from selected urban communities in Cavite have high level of perception regarding organ donation; 3) The respondents from selected rural communities in Cavite have high level of perception regarding organ donation; 4) Respondents from different age groups in selected urban and rural communities in Cavite have no significant differences on their perception of organ donation. Both male and female respondents from selected urban and rural communities in Cavite have no significant differences on their perception of organ donation. Furthermore, in religious affiliation-Catholic, Iglesia ni Kristro, Born-Again and Muslim respondents from selected urban and rural communities in Cavite have no significant differences on their perception of organ donation. Respondents from different income groups in selected urban and rural communities in Cavite have almost the same perception of organ donation with no significant differences; 5) Respondents from the selected rural and urban communities in Cavite have nos significant differences on their perception of organ donation.
