Abstract

The study utilized the descriptive-correlational type of research. Purposive sampling and snowball sampling were utilized in selecting the respondents. The research instrument used consisted of three parts: the demographic data, MD5 Mental Ability Test by Kate Mackenzie Davey and Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) questionnaire by Danile Goleman and Richard Boyatiz. The research instruments used, particularly the MD5 Mental Ability Test and ESCI questionnaire, were adapted from the research study entitled “A Correlational Study on Relationship of Intelligence Quotient and Emotional Quotient on the Gifted Middle Adolescent Students of Parañaque High School”. The data was collected and analyzed using frequency distribution, mean, t-test, f-test and Pearson r correlation. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents, who were 16-20 years old, male, whose parents finished college, with a family income of Php10,000 and below, were using sign language as their way of communication; 2) Majority of the students with hearing loss in Philippine School for the Deaf in Pasay City had a moderate level of emotional intelligence; 3) Majority of the students with hearing loss in Philippine School for the Deaf in Pasay City had a below average level of intelligence quotient.
