Abstract

This study made use of a descriptive method of research. The respondents of this study was 100 students from level three (3) BSN students and chosen using simple random sampling. The study utilized adapted tool from the study of Marasigan, A.D. et al. (2008) and Hernandez, E.T. (2007). Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents are female, Catholic, live at home and have family income of more than P30,000 per month; 2) The overall knowledge of the respondents concerning nutrition was ranked as high level of knowledge. This means that the respondents of the study are highly informed on concepts of nutrition; 3) The third year nursing students tend to always eat and have a good meal pattern; 4) There was no significant difference in the gained knowledge on concepts of nutrition of third year nursing students on frequency of eating when grouped according to gender, religion, place of residency and family income. There was no significant difference in the eating pattern of third year nursing students on the meal pattern of students when grouped according to gender, religion, and family income. There was a significant difference in the eating pattern of third year nursing students on meal pattern when grouped according to place of residency. This means that students living at home have a good meal pattern compared to students living in dormitories who have an average meal pattern; 6) There was no significant relationship between the gained knowledge on concepts of nutrition and eating pattern of third year nursing students.
