Abstract

The study utilized the descriptive non-experimental research design. This study was composed of 100 students of Bachelor of Science in Nursing of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute Batch 2013 and chosen using simple random sampling. A self-made tool was used in the study. The questionnaire has two parts: The first part dealt with the respondent’s demographic data and the second part tackled the factors affecting the student nurse-patient interaction. The statistical treatment used were frequency distribution, percentage, mean, f-test and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the selected BSN student Batch 2013 of DLSHSI were female, Catholic, had monthly family income of P30,000 and above and were assigned to one patient; 2) The intellectual, emotional, physical and social factors affected to a high extent on the student nurse-patient interaction of BSN students Batch 2013 of DLSHSI; 3) The intellectual, emotional, physical and social factors on the student nurse-patient interaction of BSN students Batch 2013 of DLSHSI were the same regardless of gender, religious affiliation and monthly family income. On the other hand, the aforementioned four factors on the student nurse-patient interaction of BSN students Btch 2013 of DLSHSI were different when the respondents were grouped according to student nurse-patient ratio.
