Abstract

The study utilized a descriptive type of research. Using purposive sampling technique, the respondents of this study included 60 patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. A survey type of questionnaire served as the main instrument in gathering data. In the data analysis, the statistical treatments used were mean, t-test and f-test. The study concluded that, 1) Most of the respondents are 56 years old and above, male, Catholic, college graduate, had a monthly income of P10,000 below and P30,001 above, had a hemodialysis schedule of twice a week and has been undergoing hemodialysis for 6-10 months; 2) A high quality of nursing care was perceived by the patients who are undergoing hemodialysis in De La Salle University Medical Center and Ospital ng Maynila; 3) There are no significant differences on the quality of care rendered by the staff nurses as perceived by the patients who are undergoing hemodialysis in De La Salle University Medical Center and Ospital ng Maynila when they are grouped according to age with computed F-test of 0.82 and has a p-value of 0.19 at 0.05 level of significance using 2 and 57 degrees of freedom, same as gender with computed t-test of 0.21 and has a p-value of 0.84 at 0.05 level of significance using 58 degree of freedom, same as religious affiliation with computed t-test of 1.26 and has a p-value of 0.21 at 0.05 level of significance using 58 degree of freedom, similar as educational attainment with computed f-test of 1.29 has a p-value of 0.29 at 0.05 level of significance using 3 and 56 degrees of freedom, as well as monthly income with computed f-test of 1.42 and has a p-value of 0.25 at 0.05 level of significance using 3 and 56 degrees of freedom, same as schedule of hemodialysis with computed f-test of 1.17 and has a p-value of 0.32 at 0.05 level of significance using 2 and 57 degrees of freedom and length of hemodialysis in months with computed f-test of 0.82 and has a p-value of 0.49 at 0.05 level of significance using 3 and 56 degrees of freedom.
