Abstract

The study used a quantitative research. The study focused on determining the relationship between the knowledge and practices of personal hygiene among 123 7-10 years old children in Dasmarinas Elementary School, City of Dasmarinas, Cavite regardless of their gender, ordinal postion and month family income. Stratefied random sampling was used in the study and a self-made questionnaire was utilized. Data was analysed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, f-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson-r. Most of the respondents were 8 years old, females, with ordinal position of eldest and youngest, and a monthly family income lower than P10,000.00. The respondents were highly knowledgeable on personal hygiene. The level of practices of school age children on personal hygiene was very good. There was no significant difference in the knowledge on personal hygiene among school age children when they were grouped according to age, gender, ordinal position, and month family income. There was no significant difference in the practices on personal hygiene among school age children when they were grouped according to age, gender, ordinal position, and monthly family income. There was no significant relationship between knowledge and practices on personal hygiene among school age children.
