Abstract

This study utilized the quasi-experimental design, where pre-test and post-test were given to sample groups. Purpose sampling was used to select participants from two (2) barangays in Trece Martires City, Cavite. This study involved 60 respondents. Thirty 930) respondents were included in the treatment group while the other 30 respondents were included in the comparison group. A self-made instrument composed of the personal information sheet and assessment of the level of knowledge of the respondents on rabies prevention was utilized to gather data. Frequency, percentage, mean and t-test were computed in data analysis. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) Majority of the respondents were 36-55 years old, female, married, high school graduate, with monthly income of P39,999 and below and pet owner; 2) The comparison group had a high level of knowledge about rabies prevention before and after the brochure teaching. The treatment group had a high level of knowledge before the interactive health education program and had a very high level of knowledge after the intervention; 3) There was no significant difference in the level of knowledge regarding rabies prevention during pre-test and post-test among those who were not exposed to the interactive health education program. There was a significant difference in the level of knowledge regarding rabies prevention before and after the interactive health education program among the treatment group. The interactive health education program was effective in imparting knowledge to the participants.
