Abstract
The role of education in society is widely recognized as a fundamental pillar through the implementation of face-to-face, blended learning, and online classes. Hence, this study aimed to determine the preferred learning modality of selected third year De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute based on the current educational system. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design, utilizing a validated survey questionnaire. Stratified random sampling was used for gathering respondents based primarily on their course program. A minimum of 272 respondents were chosen from the total population of 847 regular third-year students. Data collection was done through the utilization of 23 modality measures and a modified 34-item questionnaire. Based on the gathered data, results revealed that the majority prefer face-to-face as their learning modality. Moreover, several tables were created to present an analysis of the respondents' views on the internal and external factors that contributed to the reason for selecting their learning modality of choice. The result of the study showed that the students’ most preferred mode of learning was faceto-face, with 63.2%. In addition to this, the results showed that internal and external factors moderately affect the student’s preferred mode of learning, with an overall mean of 2.93 and 3.11, respectively. Furthermore, the study concludes a significant difference between the preferred mode of learning of students in terms of sex and college program. This implies that the sex and the college program of a student affect their preferred mode of learning significantly.
